BACK TO BASICS

Like everything else in this world, the key to a good wardrobe are the basics: a white t-shirt and your everyday pair of blue jeans. Five years ago I would have said these pieces were boring and not very stylish together because there isn't anything special to the outfit. Fast forward to present day and I now say the opposite - a classic white tee and and your favourite pair of jeans definitely go a long way (as an outfit on their own or mixed in with other garments). I find that there is so much beauty in the simplest of outfits these days, especially during the warmer seasons, and it's like Leonardo Da Vinci said, "simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication." Ultimately, in order to keep a "basic" outfit interesting it comes down to how you style it and the silhouette that is created - giving you that perfect "model off duty" look. One of my all time favourite style hacks is to half tuck my shirt into my jeans, it gives the outfit that chic and effortless vibe (which is essentially everything I strive for on the daily).

I always try to elevate my more casual outfits by mixing in some smarter pieces, which is why I paired these closet staples with my Gucci Princetown mules. The mules add that bit of luxury while also keeping with the laid back tone of the entire look. I'm also loving knots lately and have incorporated this trend into the subtle details of my outfit through my bracelet and belt.
