As the seasons change we start to switch up the pieces that live in our closets. Heavier knits and jackets become lighter weight shirts and possibly a little more skin is shown. However, we shouldn't stop at our clothing choices and should continue this transition into our daily skincare routine. Your skin behaves differently during the warmer and colder seasons, so it's important to take care of your skin and adjust your regime accordingly - I mean, it's not like you can just head on over to the store and pick up a new layer of skin right off of the rack.

When I was younger I never cared too much for skincare. The cheapest face wash found at the drugstore was perfectly fine and I would leave my daily routine at that. No toner. No moisturizer. No fucks given. But as I've gotten older I've noticed the change in appearance of my skin, which is why I try to keep to a minimum three step program in order to maintain a fresh appearance everyday.

For the most part my cleansing routine stays the same throughout the year, but I will change up my post cleansing ritual. I typically tend to use products that are more moisturizing during the Fall and Winter as the colder climate tends to dry my skin out and will switch to more hydrating options during the Spring and Summer time. Below are my 6 favourite products that I use to keep my skin looking and feeling like porcelain this season.

I think it's safe to say that Korean skincare is on another level and Huxley's products totally live up to that standard. Apart from my morning coffee and scroll through Instagram, I start each day with Huxley's Secret of Sahara Be Clean, Be Moist Cleansing Gel (longest name ever). The clear gel lathers up into a rich soap and moisturizes your skin while gently cleansing it at the same time. It has a soft floral scent which I love as well, so you can literally wake up and smell the roses.

I've never been one to think of using oils as a part of my skincare routine, but this is literally my holy grail to looking like a morning person. After my shower each morning I massage the oil into my face and it instantly wakes me up and has me glowing all day long. The oil's lightweight wear and subtle ginger scent make it perfect for the Spring/Summer season, but I honestly wear this all year round. It's liquid sunshine in a bottle, baby.

This was my first introduction to the Huxley line of products and I'm not going to lie, it was 100% an impulse buy. It was the last one in stock, so I figured it had to be good if it was flying right off the shelves. The cream goes on like velvet and leaves my skin feeling VERY hydrated and firm without feeling heavy or greasy throughout the day (hence the anti gravity name). Another thing I love about the Huxley line is that it's quite affordable for the quality of the product - easily comparable to some high end brands for only a fraction of the price. Only downside was trying to hunt down another jar of it since I purchased it at a pop-up shop at Nordstrom, but luckily they now carry it full-time.

Unlike the products above, I don't use this mask as a part of my everyday skincare routine - I'd say I use it once to twice a week (generally at the end, so I can start over with a fresh face and occasionally mid-week if I'm starting to feel like my pores are clogging up). The mask gently washes away dead skin cells and draws out blackheads, leaving a healthy and fresh glow afterwards. Something to note is that the mask is a bit on the runny side upon application, so I wouldn't recommend wearing your favourite clothes when you plan on using this mask. However, it does dry quite quickly which does balance out the density of the product. One of my favourite things about the Nena brand is that it is made locally from a unique glacial oceanic clay that can only be found in Nothern British Columbia.

By now, you can probably tell that I'm obsessed with Huxley's products since half of my skincare routine involves this brand (I promise, this is not a sponsored post). I usually use this toner after the Nena Clay Mask, so I wouldn't say that using a toner is a daily necessity. However, I do find that it gives me a more balanced and even complexion when I do use it.

My last skincare fave has nothing to do with your face, but still has everything to do with your skin. I'm a sucker for soft hands, there's just something about it that says "I take care of myself" on a whole other level. Maybe it's because we use our hands for almost everything, so it would make sense for them to get a little rough but I can honestly say that I have never used a hand moisturizer that works as well as Aesop. At first I wasn't sure if it was all hype with it's beautiful Instagram worthy packaging, but after using it for a day.. I can never leave my house without it in my bag. Plus, it smells delicious - I've even had a couple of people come in closer because of the scent.

For the skincare newbies out there this may seem like a lot of work, but it's actually quite minimal in comparison to others and totally worth it! Fortunately, I've been blessed with a "normal" skin type so I don't break out too often or easily. However, the products I use are all quite gentle so they can work on more oily or sensitive skin types (don't quote me on that though). Please also note, that none of the products I have posted about were sponsored - these are my genuine feelings about them. But Huxley, if you want to partner up, you know I'm definitely in!
